Pumpkin Spice Latte

Pumpkin Spice Latte
1 serving

1 cup milk
1 tablespoon canned pumpkin
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla (not a typo!)
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup strong brewed coffee

Combine milk, pumpkin, and sugar in saucepan. Cook on medium heat, stirring until steaming. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and spice. Transfer to a blender and process until foamy. Pour into a large mug and add coffee. Top with fresh whipped cream and a
sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Enjoy!

Mr. H. is the coffee drink maker in this house, but his aversion to all things pumpkin, had me on my own for this concoction.  I used a recipe that claimed to be just like Starbucks.  Now, I've never had a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, so I can't really compare. But, it sure was good and it certainly took less time and money than going to Starbucks! :-)

The chickens are 2 months old!

And as usual, Loretta felt the need to make the day memorable!

While I was bent over and busy taking pictures of the other chickens,
she decided to roost on my head!

I think my scream might have stressed out the chickens just a bit! ;-)

Two to three more months and
then hopefully it will be egg laying  time!

Sunday Songs

~There's a Rainbow in the Cloud~

As I journey here mid  the toil and tears,
There's a rainbow in the cloud;
He will safely lead, I must have no fear,
There's a rainbow in the cloud.

Refrain
There's a rainbow that is shining
There's a rainbow in the cloud.
When life's race is one, and the victory won.
There's a rainbow in the cloud.

When the way seems dark and the night grows long,
There's a rainbow in the cloud;
When my way grows drear and no friend seems near,
There's a rainbow in the cloud.

Refrain

After storm and rain, fields of golden grain.
There's a rainbow in  the cloud;
Winter's cold and pain, summer's harvest gain,
There's a rainbow in the cloud.

Refrain

When the storms all pass, comes a brighter day.
There's a rainbow in the cloud;
In that city fair  there's a crown to wear,
There's a rainbow in the cloud.

Refrain

It doesn't matter who leads the singing when we sing this song.  I always hear Giggle's dad's voice.

Back to soccer!

 My girl

and my boy play soccer.

Mr. H. is coaching both and he plays, too!

How do I survive soccer season? ;-)

I take a deep breath!

I cook lots of warm, hearty meals for my players.
(With second helpings and desserts planned for!)

I try to never get behind on washing towels.
(Soccer players take a lot of showers!)

I wash the jerseys, fill the thermoses, step over numerous pairs of cleats and shin guards...

And I love every minute of it!  I'm their biggest fan!

m&m cookie mix in the color theme of the shower

cowboy cookie mix

and triple chip cookie mix

54 jars!

My dining room looked like a packing plant for a few days!

It was a lot of work and pretty much no profit this time,
 but I learned A LOT!

"This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world."

~Fall Nesting 2010~

With nearly a 100 percent chance of rain in the forecast, I decided it sounded like a good day to do a little fall nesting! And, I could join in The Inspired Room's 3rd Annual Fall Nesting Party. This year I'm nesting in a new-t0-me home. Such fun to decide were to put things!

I started the morning with some fall flavored coffee of course. :-)
~Dunkin' Donuts Cinnamon Spice~

I finished up my ~Autumn Wreath~ candle last year.
So I purchased Yankee Candle's fragrance of the month for September,
~Autumn Leaves~.

With the rain on the roof, my new candle burning,
and plenty of coffee in my cup,
I emptied the hutch of it's summertime contents.
I replaced the Phaltzgraf dishes and ice cream parfait glasses...

...with the wonderful colors of autumn.

I got out all my favorite fall cookbooks.

Each one is filled with yummy, hearty,
tummy warming recipes.

And, I went to the closet to retrieve some fall decorations.

But I left the Halloween

and Thanksgiving boxes stored away for a little while longer.

I took everything off the butlers pantry
and gave myself a clean slate to work with.

Using what I had,
I wanted to create a homey autumn look.

And I loved the way it turned out!
This will definitely be a spot in the house
that I will really enjoy decorating seasonally. :-)

Lastly, I put some fall leaves
on the bookshelves and fireplace mantle
in the library.

There's still plenty more to do,
but I thought today was a great start
for getting our home warm and cozy for fall!

Please head over to The Inspired Room
for much more autumn inspiration and Fall Nesting.
I've visited several sites so far, and have gotten many, many neat ideas!

Thanks so much for visiting me. :-)
